Triumph to Launch Affordable Speed 400 ?

Triumph India is all set to expand its 400cc lineup with the launch of a new, more affordable variant of the Speed 400 on September 17, 2024. The company has teased this upcoming bike, which hints at a slightly different version of the Speed 400, targeting a broader audience.

What’s New?

The teaser image reveals a new red and white color scheme and a flat seat with custom stitching, replacing the standard seat on the Speed 400. The black panel beneath the fuel tank has been replaced with a grey one, suggesting subtle changes that might help lower the cost while still maintaining the iconic Triumph look.

Why the Launch?

It’s been over a year since the introduction of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, but Triumph is looking to further penetrate the 400cc segment. This new model, which is likely to be priced lower, is expected to generate excitement, especially with the festive season just around the corner. Triumph has also been offering a ₹10,000 discount on the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, indicating the company’s desire to push sales in the face of slower-than-expected market performance.

Expected Features and Design

While exact details about the new model are still under wraps, it is expected to carry over many features from the Speed 400, including the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder engine producing 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque. This powertrain is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch.

Additionally, the bike is expected to feature a tubular steel frame, upside-down forks at the front, and a monoshock at the rear for suspension. The braking system will likely include disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, ensuring safety on the road. The bike is also expected to roll on 17-inch alloy wheels, aligning it with the existing Speed 400 model.

Targeting the Festive Season

With the festive season approaching, Triumph is aiming to generate buzz and boost sales by offering this new, affordable variant. Bajaj Auto, which manufactures these bikes at its Chakan facility, is expected to deliver the bikes starting in October.

While details about pricing will only be revealed during the launch, the new Speed 400 variant is expected to make Triumph’s 400cc lineup more accessible, attracting more buyers and improving the brand’s market share in India.

Stay tuned for more updates as the official launch approaches!
